Covenlings!
I’m just home from work, my coffee’s too strong, and somehow my spooky little suflet is already thinking about Halloween.
Yes, it’s July. No, I’m not sorry.
Welcome to Sweet Coven, my little dark corner of the internet for cookies, cakes, cupcakes, Romanian baking, cozy kitchen stuff, folklore, autumn feelings, and whatever else my goblin heart decides belongs here.
I’ve always loved how food can feel like a memory before you even take the first bite. Cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate, honey, nuts, warm dough, powdered sugar on your fingers. Some smells just open a door in your chest, you know?
For me, baking has always been somewhere between comfort and ritual.
It’s what I do when I miss home. When I need my hands busy. When the world’s been too loud. When I want to make something small and sweet and real.
Some of what I share here will be spooky and seasonal, because yes, I’m absolutely one of those women who thinks autumn should last all year. Some of it’ll be soft and nostalgic. Some of it’ll come from Romanian flavors, family memories, and things Buni would probably have opinions about. Some of it’ll be recipes I’m still figuring out, because honestly, not everything has to be perfect to be loved.
There’ll be cookies. There’ll be cakes.
There’ll be Romanian sweets, old stories, kitchen notes, little mistakes, dramatic frosting opinions, and probably too much Halloween energy for a normal adult woman.
Good thing I’ve never been all that interested in being normal.
I want Sweet Coven to feel like walking into a warm kitchen on a chilly night. Candles lit, coffee nearby, something sweet cooling on the counter, and somebody saying, “Come in. Sit down and try this.”
So come in and take a seat.
Welcome to the coven.
I’m so happy you’re here.
With love, coffee, and probably too much pumpkin spice!
Lena
